Day Boat Hire – Nelson 18
Our day boat is a beautiful traditional launch built by Nelson, famous for building pilot boats, police launches and service craft for the Royal Navy.
At 18ft long, she is small enough to explore the river above Stratford, but big enough to navigate the locks downstream to reach the beautiful quiet stretches of the river below Stratford, towards Luddington, Welford-on-Avon, and even as far as Bidford.
The boat has space for 6 people on board, with a small cockpit at the aft end, and a cosy cabin with two berths in the bow. She has a reliable inboard diesel engine, and simple controls making the boat easy to operate, especially for those new to boating. Full instruction will be given to hirers before they depart, along with a map of the river and suggestions of the best places to stop. On rainy days, the boat has a full cockpit canopy. If required, the boat has a porta-potty under one of the berths in the cabin.
The boat does not have cooking facilities, but she is ideal for a picnic afloat, or a visit to one of the pubs downriver. Please ask us for details of where you can moor-up.
Hire Periods
Hired by the day, the boat is available from 09:30. Please allow 30 minutes at the start of your trip for some guidance on the river, safety briefing, use of locks and to familiarise you with the boat.
Boats are to be returned by 18:00, but may be returned at a later time by arrangement with us at an additional hourly rate. The boats may be booked for half-day hire, but not on Bank Holidays or at weekends from May to August.

Payment
To book our boat, please contact our office. To confirm a booking, a deposit of £100.00 is required. The balance of the hire charge is due on arrival on the day of hire, along with a returnable security deposit of £100.00. Cancellations can be made up 14 days before the hire date without the loss of your deposit. Less than 14 days before the hire date you will be charged the deposit.
